Santa brought my son this glockenspiel for Christmas this year. Unlike similarly priced toy xylophones, this baby has great tone - German engineered tone. If you think that is not important, you haven't spent much time with toddlers in enclosed spaces. It is pitch perfect and a delight for all in the family to play. From the photo you can see that the mallets slide and snap into the side of the instrument. My son enjoys taking them out and (trying) to put them back in even more than he enjoys playing it. He isn't exactly gentle with things, so the fact that the mallets are not yet broken is further testament to the quality of this toy. Remember, you don't buy a musical instrument because it's cute or has a great modern aesthetic.

I purchased this glockenspiel for my son's 2nd birthday and I am very satisfied with the quality. The bars of this instrument have actually been tuned to correct pitches, unlike many similar toys that are so badly out of tune that you can't play a recognizable melody. It also has a pleasant tone, unlike the harsh tone of others we tried. I could not find anything in the same price range that came close to this product in terms of tuning and quality.

I bought this for my 4yr. old who loves music and asked for a xylophone. She had out grown her toddler style xylophone. I was amazed by the good tone quality and it is very durable, even the little wooden sticks seem strong. She is happily tapping out tunes.

My daughter absolutely loves this wonderful xylophone, to the point of bringing it in the car when we go to the grocery store. Fortunately, it has a lovely sound and is well-tuned, so I don't mind hearing it constantly! My one warning would be to check on the security of the mallets; one of the wooden balls came off and needed re-gluing. This was easy, but it rolled away and was difficult to find, and we were concerned because it's the perfect size for our son to choke on. Not really a criticism, just something to keep your eye on.
